Administration removes Brahmakamal rotary in Doon overnight to ease traffic flow

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Dehradun district administration removed the Brahmakamal rotary overnight on Monday to eradicate a major traffic bottleneck. The action followed a decision taken in a recent road safety committee meeting chaired by Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal. The committee identified accident-prone and congested areas across the city and directed immediate corrective measures. Bansal said that many officials and experts stated during the meeting that the Brahmakamal rotary had widened the intersection at the location that disrupted traffic movement.

Responding to this, the administration carried out the removal overnight. Bnasal said that road improvement works across the district are continuing on a war footing. He informed that the ISBT road safety and drainage project is nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The intersection upgrade and beautification work is expected to finish by June 15.

Besides this, the administration has installed speed breakers at accident-prone locations and work is underway to install traffic lights at 11 busy junctions across the Dehradun city. Dividers are also being added along Rajpur Road to manage traffic flow, as per the DM. He also instructed the traffic police to mark zebra crossings and ensure free left turns at intersections to improve road movement.
