Cardiologists, technicians to be appointed in Cath lab of Srinagar medical college: Minister

The Health department has started the process of appointment to five posts of cardiologist and Cath lab technicians in the recently set up Cath lab at the Government Medical College in Srinagar. In view of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) implemented in the State, the department had requested the Election Commission of India to provide its approval for these appointments. The ECI has given its approval to the department for these appointments. 

The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State government is committed to the successful organisation of the Char Dham Yatra which is starting from May 10. He said that the State government has taken many initiatives to provide better health services to the pilgrims and Cath lab of Srinagar Medical College is one of them. Rawat informed that soon two cardiologists and three technicians will be appointed in the lab. The lab will help in providing treatment to the heart patients. Apart from the pilgrims the lab will provide cardiac treatment facilities for the locals. 

On the orders of the minister, the secretary R Rajesh Kumar has written a letter to the mission director of National Health Mission (NHM) to release recruitment advertisement for appointment of cardiologists and technicians in the Cath lab. 

Rawat said that in view of the Char Dham Yatra, the ECI has given its approvals to the request of the department regarding recruitment in Cath lab, appointment of 361 Community Health Officers, issuing health advisory and awareness campaign on health issues of pilgrims.
