Police have registered an FIR against unidentified individuals for playing loud music and dancing behind the Kedarnath temple. A video of the incident began circulating on various social media platforms from Monday, drawing public attention and raising concerns over conduct at religious places. In the video, a group of young men can be seen dancing to loud music near the rear part of the Kedarnath temple premises.
According to officials, this behaviour has hurt the sentiments of devotees and the general public. Following initial inquiry, police confirmed that the video was not recorded after the official opening of the temple gates for the season. The police have filed a case against unknown persons under relevant legal provisions. The officials said that the investigation is ongoing and police are working to verify the timing and authenticity of the video. Identification of those seen in the clip is underway using inputs from various social media sources, as per the officials.
The police have also urged the public not to share or forward the video, stating that circulating such content violates the sanctity of the temple. They emphasised that maintaining order and decorum at a site like Kedarnath is the responsibility of all citizens. They have also asked visitors and pilgrims to act responsibly and report any inappropriate activity to local authorities.
Monitoring of social media activity continues and strict action will be taken against those involved in spreading misinformation or disturbing public order, the officials added.
