108 roads remain blocked across State as rains continue

With rain and related incidents continuing in the State, more than 100 roads have remained blocked in different regions. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), a total of 108 roads were reported to be blocked in the State on Monday evening. In the Rudraprayag district, the national highway to Kedarnath is open for traffic till Kund. Limited movement is being allowed on the Sonprayag-Gaurikund-Kedarnath bridle path even as works continue to improve the condition of this route. A total of 10 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. The national highways to Gangotri and Yamunotri are open though three rural motor roads are blocked in Uttarkashi district. In Chamoli district, the national highway to Badrinath is open though one main district road, one other district road and 23 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. In the Bageshwar district, authorities received information about a goatherd gone missing in the Pindar glacier area on Monday. State Disaster Response Force and district administration teams have left for the area to search for him. Two main district roads and seven rural motor roads are blocked in the district while one rural motor road is blocked in Nainital district. In the Dehradun district, the Vikasnagar-Kalsi-Badkot national highway is blocked near Lakhwad Bend due to debris and boulders. One State highway and 15 rural motor roads are also blocked in the district. Similarly, the Pithoragarh-Jauljibi national highway is blocked near Lakhanpur along with one border road, one State highway and 32 rural motor roads also reported to be blocked in the Pithoragarh district. All the roads were reported to be open in the Almora and Haridwar districts while five rural motor roads were blocked in the Pauri district. A total of 11 rural motor roads were reported blocked in the Tehri district. According to officials, efforts are underway to restore traffic on all the roads.
