In a tragic road mishap, at least 15 people- seven children and eight women- were killed when the tractor trolley they were travelling in plunged into a pond on the Patiali-Daryaoganj road in Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh. Locals rushed to the site on hearing scream and started rescuing the people. Police arrived soon. By the time the people were transported to the health centre at Patiali, 15 of them had succumbed. Police said the deceased were from a village in Etawah and were pilgrims. Condoling the death, the chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced ex gratia of Rs two lakhs each to be paid to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured. Besides, he directed the officers concerned to provide free medical treatment to the injured.
