8164 recoveries, 2903 new cases in U’khand on Saturday

In an indication that the contagion of Covid- 19 is on downhill in Uttarakhand, the state health department reported less than 3000 cases for the first time in the month of May on Saturday. The deaths from the disease however continue to be on a higher side in the state as 134 deaths were reported on the day. Out of these deaths 64 occurred on Saturday while the remaining (70) had occurred earlier but were reported on the day.
With it the cumulative count of the disease in the state has increased to 3,10,469 while the death count has mounted to 5734. The recovery percent has now improved to 77.76 with 8164 recoveries on Saturday. The sample positivity rate is 6.94 percent in the state.
Out of the 64 deaths which occurred on Saturday, eight were reported from Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital Haldwani, seven each at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun, five at Himalayan hospital Dehradun and four each at Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun and Subharti hospital Dehradun. Similarly three deaths each occurred at Max hospital Dehradun, Mahant Indiresh hospital and Synergy hospital Dehradun on the day. Two deaths each occurred at Coronation hospital Dehradun, Metro Haridwar, Ramakrishna Mission Haridwar, Vinay Vishal hospital Haridwar and Sanjeevni hospital Kashipur. The authorities also added 70 backlog deaths on the day out of which 43 had occurred in Haridwar, 20 in Dehradun and five in Pithoragarh and two in Nainital districts.
The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 610 new cases of the disease on Saturday. Haridwar reported 465, Pauri 297, Tehri 281, Nainital 256, Almora 221, Udham Singh Nagar 183, Chamoli 160, Rudraprayag 131, Pithoragarh 112, Champawat 89, Uttarkashi 58 and Bageshwar 40 new cases of the disease on Saturday. The state now has 57,929 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to remains at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 17,771 patients; Haridwar has 9,507, Udham Singh Nagar 5,725, Pauri 5,473, Tehri 4,751, Nainital 4,409, Rudraprayag 2,552, Almora 2,334, Chamoli 2,333, Uttarkashi 1,825, Bageshwar 1,637, Pithoragarh 1,714 and Champawat 898 active cases of the disease.
To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 541 containment zones in different parts of the state. In the ongoing vaccination drive only 14,860 people were vaccinated in 238 sessions in different parts of the state on Saturday. A total of 6,80907 people have been fully vaccinated while 20,90,603 have received the first dose of the vaccine.
