CM natural farming & Namami Gange natural farming corridor schemes inaugurated

The chief minister natural farming scheme and Namami Gange natural farming corridor were inaugurated while the formation of natural farming board was announced at an event held by the Agriculture department here on Thursday. Uttarakhand governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh, his Gujarat counterpart Acharya Devvrat, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi were present on the occasion.
Singh said that natural farming is the need of the hour while adding that work will have to be done for making it a brand. He called for progressing with a combination of India’s civilisation, culture and ancient history along with modern techniques, he said. The Gujarat governor said that Uttarakhand’s features can be a boon for natural farming which can be a game changer for the State’s economy. The fertility of the soil is decreasing due to excessive use of chemicals and fertilisers. Such chemicals also cause various diseases while decreasing carbon and micro nutrients in the farms. He stressed that returning to natural farming is needed for solving all such problems, adding that about two lakh and three lakh farmers are doing natural farming in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat respectively.Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that a natural farming development board will be formed in the State. He also approved Rs 10 crore for the CM natural farming scheme while adding that the Namami Gange natural farming corridor will also help in cleaning the Ganga. Strengthening the farmer will strengthen the economy, which in turn will make India a world leader, he added.
