CM Dhami announces reintroduction of sports quota in government jobs

Inaugurates the 11th All India Police Archery Championship 2022 at Police lines

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday announced resumption of sports quota in government jobs in the State. He made the announcement while addressing the inaugural ceremony of 11th All India Police Archery Championship -2022 at Police lines here on Wednesday. He welcomed all police personnel and paramilitary personnel arriving from states and union territories across the country to participate in the six-day long championship. The CM said that a rich sports culture is being developed under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi in the State as proved by recent historical performance of our players at the international level in various sports events. Also, the government has implemented a new sports policy in the state in which all things are included to take care of players’ requirements and facilities, said the CM. He also announced to re-introduce the sports quota for recruitment in government jobs in the State. 

The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar said in his address at the event that All India Police Games have been organised every year since 1951 for different sports by the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB). The board included archery in the list of annual police sports from the year 2013. “Uttarakhand is hosting the All India Police Archery Championship for the first time which is a big responsibility and an honour for us. A total of 316 contestants including male and female personnel from 26 States and union territories will be participating in the championship from December 14 to 19. Our team has made ample efforts to ensure to provide all necessary facilities to all contestants during their stay in Uttarakhand. I hope people will witness some new records in the archery championship in the Police line of Dehradun,” said the DGP.
