Cooperative Dept to undertake major awareness campaign

Dept & NABARD to organise 1,200 seminars in different parts of the State

The Cooperatives department will organise 1,200 seminars in different parts of the State to increase financial awareness among the masses. Information about different schemes of the department and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) would be given in these seminars. The order for organising these seminars was given by the Cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat during the review meeting of the department at the head office of State Integrated Cooperative Development Project here on Tuesday. He said that cultural programmes and street plays would also be held in these seminars. Directing every branch of the District cooperative and State cooperative bank to organise four seminars each Rawat said that the NABARD would provide a sum of Rs 6,000 per seminar to the banks to make the campaign a success. He said that more than 6.5 lakh people have received loans at zero per cent interest rate under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya cooperative Kisan Kalyan Yojana so far. Rawat said that the scheme has benefited the farmers and has helped to double the income of farmers.

  The minister said that the Mukhyamantri Ghasyari Kalyan Yojana (MGKY) is operational in all districts of the State and all these schemes should be publicized. He said that two farmers and four officers from every district would visit five states of the country to learn farming practices. The minister said that the MGKY would be launched in the districts by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami from February 15 to March 15. He said that the MGKY is an ambitious scheme which is proving to be a boon for the women of mountainous areas. Initially the scheme was operational in four districts but now it has been extended to all districts of the State. The minister further added that the Student Cooperative Credit Card scheme would be implemented in the state and the department would provide free coaching to 20 students for Civil Services, NDA and other competitive examinations. He said that the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for loan defaulters of the Cooperative banks would be launched on February 10 and would continue till March 15. The managing director of State Cooperative Bank Niraj Belwal said that the bank has a NPA of Rs 166 crore.

The registrar of cooperatives and societies Alok Kumar Pandey, chief general manager of NABARD VK Bisht and others were present on the occasion.
