Health department prepares proposals for projects under NHM

The Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar held a review meeting of the department at the State secretariat on Wednesday. In the meeting, discussions were held to send supplementary Programme Implementation Plan (PIP) of different programmes being operated under the National Health Mission (NHM) to the government of India. Kumar directed the officers to send proposals of setting up birth waiting homes in all the 13 districts.
These centers would be set up in the one stop centres and working women hostels for the pregnant women to stay under the maternal health programme. The scheme would help in providing timely medical care to the pregnant women and reduce the infant and mother mortality rates. He also said that the proposal to set up portable digital X-ray units In the 17 mobile medical units (MMU) under the National TB eradication programme. These mobile units are providing medical facilities in remote areas. The TB patients would get the benefit of testing by these vans.
A proposal for purchasing equipment for OT in the district hospital Dehradun and sub district hospital Mussoorie under the National programme for eradication of blindness would also be sent to the union government. It was also decided to send a proposal for screening of sickle cells in the tribal population under the Haemoglobinopathy programme of the government of India. A proposal for strengthening the blood bank at district hospital Bageshwar and Base hospital Haldwani would also be sent.
The meeting was attended by additional secretary health Amandeep Kaur, director NGM Dr Saroj Naithani, officer in charge Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh and others.
