PM once again assures all possible help to tackle Joshimath land subsidence
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday. In the meeting which reportedly lasted for more than one and half hours, the CM apprised the PM of the progress of the developmental projects and the Char Dham Yatra.
He told the PM that a record number of pilgrims are visiting the Char Dhams and relief and rehabilitation works are going on Joshimath. The PM assured the CM that every possible help would be given to the State government to tackle the land subsidence in Joshimath.
In the meeting the CM requested the PM to inaugurate the investor’s summit proposed in the month of October/ November in the State. He also requested the PM to come to Jageshwar Dham, Adi Kailash, Parvati Sarovar and Mayawati Ashram. He said that the air connectivity in the State is increasing and 243 acres of land is being acquired for extension of Dehradun airport, Jollygrant. He said that a feasibility survey for extension of Pantnagar airport has also been done. The CM requested for approval of Dehradun- Pithoragarh- Hindan air service and helicopter services for Pithoragarh and Almora.
The CM said that the State has set a target to take its GDP to Rs 5.5 lakh crore. He further informed that the State government has started the Manaskhand Mandir Mala project in Kumaon region on the lines of the Char Dham Yatra. Dhami informed the PM that a target to develop five to seven new cities has been taken up by the State government in the field of urban development. In the first phase a new city would be developed on a 2000 acre of land in Parag Farm in Kichha of Udham Singh Nagar. The union ministry of urban affairs has been requested to provide a budget of Rs 1000 crore for this green city which would be located at a distance of only 15 km from Rudrapur on the NH 47. Pantnagar railway station would be the nearest railway station and it would pass through the economically important Amritsar- Kolkata industrial corridor.
Dhami presented to the PM the Prasad of Badrinath, Kedarnath , Ganga Tulsi and GangaJal of Gangotri, Mandakni and water of Yamunotri and of Alaknanda river.
