Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has taken an initiative for an intensive tree plantation drive around Dhari Devi Temple complex in Pauri district. The drive would be undertaken in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC). Apart from this many universities and colleges will also be part of the tree plantation programme.
On Wednesday the former CM discussed the plantation drive with the teachers and other prominent citizens at the campus of HNB Garhwal University. He said that plantation would be done on both sides of the Dhari Devi temple. He informed that in May, pits will be prepared and an intensive plantation drive would be undertaken in the month of July along with Geo tagging of the trees.
The focus of the plantation drive would be on Peepal and Banyan trees. Some plant saplings have been already planted along the way leading to Dhari Devi temple.
