CM, others pay tribute to statehood activist Sushila Baluni

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the demise of the noted statehood activist and former chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Women Commission (USWC), Sushila Baluni. The health of 84-year-old Baluni deteriorated on Tuesday afternoon after which she was admitted to a private hospital where she breathed her last in the evening. 

Dhami visited the Dobhalwala residence of Baluni on Wednesday and paid tribute by offering flowers on her mortal remains. He said that he prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul and patience to the grieving family members. He said that Baluni was an incredible woman and statehood activist who had highly contributed in the formation of Uttarakhand which will always be remembered by all citizens. 

The cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi and the president of Pradesh Congress Committee Karan Mahara also paid tribute to Baluni at her residence. Mahara said that she was a source of inspiration for millions of people and her departure is an irreparable loss for the State. The USWC president Kusum Kandwal also paid her tribute to Baluni. She said that Baluni has always been a great inspiration for women and an example of real women empowerment in Uttarakhand.
