Some senior nursing officers were forced to celebrate the International Nurses Day, marking the birth anniversary of the mother of modern nursing Florence Nightingale, on the road, outside the residence of the State health minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
They are the permanent employees of the State health department. When the Doon Medical College came into being they were attached to it. They were relieved from service from the Medical Education Department of the Doon Medical College so as to enable them to return to their parent health department.
Vidya Chaubey, Veer Kaur Saini and some other senior nursing officers were relieved from the Doon medical college unilaterally. “We are not employed in any hospital to celebrate the occasion and have not been receiving salary at present,” they said .
To draw the attention of the state government to the matter, they assembled outside the residence of the State health minister to observe the International Nurses Day.
