Plains to remain dry & hot, rain likely in 5 mountain districts

Even as the plains continue to experience rising temperatures some areas in the mountainous districts may witness light rain and thunderstorms on Monday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that light rain may occur at some places in five mountainous districts today. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Monday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 37 degrees Celsius and 21.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.8 degrees Celsius and 20.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25 degrees Celsius and 13.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.4 degrees Celsius and 14.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. Very light to light rain was reported in some parts of the State on Sunday with three millimetres in Kanda and one millimetre in Pratapnagar.
