Thunderstorm warning issued for mountainous region

The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous parts of the State on Saturday.
Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Almora districts and at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 38 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Friday were 38.2 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26.2 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.4 degrees Celsius and 15.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light rain was recorded in some parts of the State on Friday with three millimetres in Lohaghat, two millimetres in Sonprayag and 1.5 millimetres in Pithoragarh.
