Inter-ministerial group to visit State to assess damage caused by disasters

The inter-ministerial central group formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs is proposed to assess the damage caused by disasters in Haridwar. The group is proposed to visit the district during August 8-11. Chairing a meeting on Monday the disaster management secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha reviewed preparations for this visit and the damage caused by disaster in the state. He said that the inter-ministerial group formed by the MHA to assess damage caused by heavy rain, floods and other disasters in the State is proposed to visit Haridwar district between August 8 and 11. The secretary sought information from all the departments about the damage caused during the ongoing monsoon season in the state. He directed officials of all departments that category-wise description and accurate data on damage caused during the monsoon should be presented as early as possible. All departments should also prepare year-wise data on damage caused during the monsoon so that a comparative study can be conducted. Sinha said that talks will be held with the Government of India for change in guidelines. He sought suggestions from all the departments in this regard. He especially directed the Agriculture department to study the crop productivity loss caused by disasters in the state.
