Dhami exhorts industrialists to invest in Uttarakhand

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami exhorted prominent industrialists to invest and establish their enterprises in Uttarakhand. In a meeting with the industrial fraternity in New Delhi on Monday, Dhami said that Uttarakhand Uttarakhand is among the swiftly progressing States of India, adding that its industrialists are the brand ambassadors of the State. In addition to giving suggestions on various aspects, the industrialists also showed interest in investing in Uttarakhand.

The CM said that keeping in view Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aim of developing India into a $5 trillion economy the State government has launched the Sashakt Uttarakhand mission under which it is aiming to double the GSDP in the next five years. The State government is going to organise a global investors summit-2023 later this year as part of efforts to achieve this aim, he said. Addressing the industrialists, Dhami said that investment-centric policies, investment in basic infrastructure, availability of capable human resource and good governance has helped lay the foundation for a healthy environment for investment in Uttarakhand. The State Institute for Empowering and Transforming Uttarakhand has been formed on the lines of the NITI Aayog for better policies, effective policy making, encouragement to innovations and regular monitoring and evaluation of development works. On the lines of actions taken by the Central government, the State government has also taken action to annual or amend defunct or useless laws. The government has so far identified 1,250 such Acts out of which 500 Acts have been eliminated through the single repeal act. The procedures are also being simplified to provide better and time-bound facilities to investors. The State government has also formed the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board to create infrastructural facilities and attract investors to the State, said Dhami. He further said that Uttarakhand is aiming to become a model State by 2025. “Three large industrial parks have been established in the State. Our policies also include tourism policy-2023, MEME policy-2023, startup policy-2023, logistics policy 2023 and a policy for establishment of private industrial areas. All our policies are conducive to investors and we have made our policies attractive compared to other States. At present, the government has made a 6,000 acre land bank for industries in various sectors,” said the CM.

The chief secretary SS Sandhi, secretary to CM, R Meenakshi Sundaram and others also spoke in detail about the various initiatives and actions taken by the State government for the investors and the industrial sector. ASSOCHAM chairman Ajay Singh, Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India director general Vinni Mehta and other members of the industrial fraternity also expressed their views in the meeting.
