Srishti Lakhera’s film on migration wins national award

In latest Uttarakhand news, the film ‘Ek Tha Gaon’, produced and directed by Srishti Lakhera, a resident of Semla village in Kirtinagar block of Tehri district, has won the best non-feature film award as per the 69th National Film Awards announcement. Earlier, the film, made in both Garhwali and Hindi languages, had made it to the prestigious India Gold Category of the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) Film Festival.
The one-hour film portrays the deep poignancy involved in unabated migration of the people from once thriving villages up in the mountains, turning village after village into ghost villages. There are two main characters of the film- Leela Devi aged 80 and Kishori Golu aged 19.
Srishti’s family is settled in Rishikesh and his father Dr K N Lakhera, a pediatrician, said that his daughter has been working in the realm of film making for 13 years
