Traffic on several routes in Dehradun will remain diverted on Monday due to the planned procession of Tapkeshwar Mahadev from Shivaji Dharmshala. The officials said that the procession will commence from Shivaji Dharmshala and will pass through Saharanpur Chowk, Jhanda Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Clock Tower, Bindal, Cantonment area and Dakra Bazaar to Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple via Dakra Bazaar and Garhi Cantt Chowk.
Considering the pressure of traffic from Saharanpur Chowk to Matawala Bagh and Prince Chowk to Shivaji Dharamshala from 10 AM to 2 PM, the officials said that the traffic will be diverted from Niranjanpur Mandi, Lal Pul and Balliwala Chowk. They appealed to the commuters to use alternative routes like GMS Road, Haridwar Bypass Road and routes of the Dharampur area instead of the diverted routes.
In view of the traffic pressure at Clock Tower, Chakrata Road and on the stretch from Ballupur to Clock Tower area from 2 PM to 7 PM, traffic will be diverted from Ballupur, Kishannagar Chowk and Bindal Chowki cut. Instead of using these routes, the commuters must commute through alternative routes like Garhi Cantt, Dilaram Chowk, GMS Road and others, said the officials.
They appealed to the locals to avoid the use of four wheelers on Monday. They urged people to plan their commute as per the traffic plan and either use two-wheeler vehicles or public transport to avoid unnecessary trouble due to route diversions. The officials said that all commuters must follow traffic rules during diversions as well or a penalty will be imposed on violations.
