PM Vishwakarma Yojana will promote Guru Shishya tradition: Union MoS Patil

The PM Vishwakarma Yojana was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti on Sunday at an event in the national Capital. This programme was organised at about 70 different places of the country to spread wide awareness among the traditional artisans and craftsmen. In Dehradun the launch of the PM Vishwakarma scheme was organised at Himalayan the Cultural Centre where the live telecast of the launch of the scheme was seen by about 800 artisans, representatives of MSMEs, NGOs and SHGs. The Union minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Kapil Moreshwar Patil was present as the chief guest in the event.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Patil welcomed the effort of the Prime Minister and said that this scheme will definitely help in developing the skills of the artisans so that they can get good value for their products and keep their craftsmanship alive. He said that the objective of this initiative is to bring the lower class people into the mainstream of the society through Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.He said that through this scheme, workers doing artisan work will be provided with better means of earning which will also improve their economic condition. Apart from this, workers and artisans doing traditional work in 18 identified areas will also be given training to improve the quality of their products. The Union MoS further said that this scheme will also promote the Guru Shishya tradition.

Addressing the gathering in the programme, the Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt said that due to industrialisation, traditional artisans and craftsmen had lagged behind but the PM Vishwakarma Yojana will now change the lives of such artisans.

The State’s Finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal, Agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi, MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, MLAs Khajan Das and Savita Kapoor among others were also present on the occasion.
