Case registered for using Doon SSP’s name in misleading ad

The police have registered a case against the proprietor of a business who purportedly published a misleading advertisement using the name and picture of the newly appointed Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. According to the police, a businessman Amit Kumar of Pravta Developers allegedly took a photo of SSP from the social media, edited it and got published it in national newspapers as part of an advertisment in a fraudulent manner for his personal and business interests. The advertisement also displays the incorrect designation of Singh. It also displays the picture and the name of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The officials said that such activity tarnishes the image of the police among the public. Besides this, it is against the law to use the name of a government official in a fraudulent manner, sub inspector and public representative officer of SSP office Hemant Khanduri registered a complaint at Nehru Colony police station on Sunday against the accused under sections 468/469 of Indian Penal Code. The police said that they will investigate the matter and will take action accordingly.
