Following the direction of the Education department and State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Sun Valley school has commenced enrolling students in adherence to the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Member of SCPCR, Vinod Kaparwan informed that the Education department promptly initiated the admission process for these 25 children at Sun Valley, in accordance with the commission’s strict instructions. The parents of these children expressed their gratitude to the commission by means of a letter, acknowledging the response of the authorities. The parents conveyed to the commission that as a result of its intervention, children from the general community are now receiving quality education, he added.
Commenting on the matter, Kaparwan said, “The said school refused to enroll students under the RTE Act, claiming that it falls under the minority category. However, following strict instructions from the Education department and SCPCR, the school has now started admitting students under the RTE Act.”
He further added that the commission will soon assess whether the RTE rights are being properly upheld in all schools within the state. The commission is committed to ensuring an equitable education system and integrating underprivileged and academically gifted students into the mainstream of society. The objective of the commission is to ensure that even the most disadvantaged child can benefit from the current education policy under RTE, he added.
