Maharaj thanks PM for Jamrani dam project approval

In latest news from Dehradun, the State cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union water resources minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat following the approval given to Jamrani dam multipurpose project in Uttarakhand by the Union cabinet. Notably, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the PM had approved inclusion of Jamrani dam multipurpose project under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (PMKSY-AIBP) of department of water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation. Maharaj said that the project which had been hanging fire since 1975 envisages construction of dam with height of 150 metre along 10 km upstream on Gaula river from Kathgodam in Nainital district and added that once completed, this project would provide around 1.5 lakh hectare cultivable land with irrigation facilities aside from supplying 42 MCM drinking water for Haldwani annually and generating 63 million units of hydropower.
