U’khand has best destinations for film shooting in the world: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand has the best destinations for film shooting in the world. Inviting the film industry to the State, the CM said that under the new service sector policy formulated by the State government provision of setting up film city, new shooting studios, production houses and new cinema halls has been made to encourage the film and media production in the State.
Dhami was interacting with the film directors, actors, producers and artists on the second day of his Mumbai visit on Tuesday. In the meeting the CM held discussions on the prospects of the film industry in Uttarakhand. Many suggestions were given by the representative of the film industry to the CM.
Dhami said that Uttarakhand has destinations such as Nainital, Mussoorie, Auli, Chakrata, Pithoragarh, Munsiyari, Chopta, Harsil and the Valley of Flowers. He said that in the last few years new destinations have also developed in the State. Dhami said that the State has better connectivity and staying facilities.
He said that the State government has many schemes for the film producer and directors of web series.
The director general of information and the chief executive officer of the Uttarakhand Film Development Board Banshidhar Tiwari said that a subsidy upto Rs 1.5 crore is being provided for such movies whose 75 per cent of shooting is done in State. Similarly a subsidy of Rs 25 lakh for regional movies and Rs 15 lakh for movies made in languages of other States is being given. He added that the government is planning to include OTT/ web series, TV serials, documentary and short film making in the policy of giving grants.
Sharing his experiences, director Vivek Agnihotri said that the Uttarakhand government provided excellent support during the shooting of his movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ in the State.
Veteran star Jitendra, Archana Puran Singh, Himani Shivpuru, Raj Shandillya, Rahul Rawail, Deepak Dobariyal and others were present in the meeting.
