Yoga guru Swami Ramdev said that caste-based census is a politically sensitive issue which will have to be addressed at some point of time. However, the economically, educationally and socially backward people in all castes should be provided reservation to facilitate their upliftment, he said.
Addressing the media in Haridwar on Tuesday Ramdev said, “There is no doubt that the caste census is going to be a major political issue. How the different political parties address it is upto them. I view Sanatan Bharat without caste distinctions. However, members of some castes live in poverty and deprivation. I believe that the economically, socially and educationally backward people in all castes should be provided reservation to help improve their condition,” he said.
On being asked about the rising influence of social media, the Yoga guru said that excessive use of mobile phones and social media is also resulting in neurological problems among children. “The excessive use of technology and social media is exerting negative impacts. I think that some regulations are needed in social media too. The very obscene content and the blatant use of swear words must not be allowed in Bharat. Hateful content on social media and even mainstream media must be addressed to curb its negative effects on society,” he added.
On the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on health, Ramdev expressed concern stating that there is no regulation anywhere in the world regarding documentation of complications resulting from vaccination. “I will not say much on this issue now but there have definitely been cases of overdose of antibiotics, steroids and vaccination which have exerted a negative impact on human health. No government in the world has any regulations for the documentation of complications resulting from this,” he said.
Stressing on the value of holistic health systems, he said that Yoga and Ayurveda have the potential to optimise health in a holistic way.Earlier, Ramdev described his journey starting from when he was 12-years-old to the present. He said that Patanjali Ayurved is today worth Rs 51,000 crore. It is the only such enterprise which has pursued its work without compromising on ethics and morality, kept its margin the lowest and still achieved such success.
