In latest news from Dehradun, Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is all set to take stern actions, including sealing properties, against the property tax defaulters. Notices are being sent to the defaulters and in case they refuse to pay despite repeated notices, MCD might seal properties, said Dehradun municipal tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly. The officer further said that the civic body has set a target of collecting Rs 60 crore through realisation of the unpaid house taxes. It is further learnt that MCD sent notice to about 4,000 defaulters over the past few months after which most of them cleared their dues. Still, there are a few thousand defaulters left. Now, a list of the big defaulters is being made. In case the dues remain uncleared, the civic body will go to the extent of sealing properties of the defaulters. Besides, the defaulters will have to pay penalties, MCD sources said.
