MCD to set up property tax camps from today

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to commence setting up property tax submission camps from Thursday to maximise collection of property tax this financial year that ends on March 31. The municipal tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly said that MCD will organise property tax submission camps in 13 locations of the city from January 4 to January 22, where locals can deposit tax via any mode of transaction. On January 4, 5 and 6, the camps will be organised at Turner Road, DL Road and at Kalu Mal Dharamshala in Dhamawala respectively. On January 9, 10 and 11, camps will be organised at Raja Road, Rajeev Colony Chowk in Govindgarh, and Bhawani Inter College in Vasant Vihar respectively. On January 12, 15 and 16, the tax section will organise camps at the Officer’s Club in Vasant Vihar, Chakshah Nagar in Nehru Colony and MDDA Colony in Indrapuram respectively. On 17, 18, 19 and 22, the camps will be organised at MKP College in Suri Chowk, Majra, Ballupur and Sahastradhara’s Chironwali area respectively. Painuly said that 12 tax inspectors and nine operators have been appointed to ensure the process of tax submission goes smoothly in every camp organised in 13 locations of 14 wards. He said that by setting up these camps, the corporation wants to make the tax submission process for locals easier and more accessible, especially for senior citizens. Painuly said that the MCD has so far collected over Rs 36 crore of property tax and aims to collect Rs 60 crore by March 31. The rate of tax submission is better than the last year in both online and offline mode considering which, MCD is optimistic towards achieving the target of collecting property tax of Rs 60 crore, Painly said.
