Wait for Cong candidates in Haridwar & Nainital continues

The wait for the party candidates for Haridwar and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar parliamentary constituencies is continuing as the deliberations continue within the party. Long discussions on the names of the candidates occurred in the meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the party on Tuesday.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, the leader of opposition (LoP) in the State assembly Yashpal Arya attended the meeting. The former PCC president Pritam Singh was also present in the meeting as the member of CEC. The party leadership also held consultation with the former chief minister Harish Rawat. It is learnt that stalemate in Haridwar is continuing with Rawat adamant on demanding ticket for his son Virendra Rawat.
The PCC president Mahara and a section of party leaders in the State wants Harish Rawat to contest from Haridwar. Former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat and PCC president Mahara are also said to be in contention in Haridwar. In Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar seat the party is yet to make its decision on the claims of former MP Mahendra Pal, LoP Yashpal Arya and young Bhuwan Kapdi. After meeting with the central leaders, the PCC president Mahara and LoP Ayra have returned back to Uttarakhand. The party leadership is now expected to declare the candidates on Thursday night or Friday.
