Police arrest three men with LSD worth over Rs 2 crore

The police arrested three accused who were in the possession of 2,058 blots of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) worth over Rs two crore in the international market and six grammes of heroin. The arrested accused are notorious Cobra gang members who used to allegedly smuggle these drugs to college students in Dehradun and high profile parties, the senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. He said that the accused used to order LSD on the dark web. The SSP said that the police had already arrested a few members of the Cobra gang for smuggling hard drugs to college students and at high profile parties. A police team was already working on tracking the movement of such smugglers. The police on Sunday received information about drug smuggling in the Premnagar area by Cobra gang members. Considering this, the team conducted checking near Nanda Ki Chowki at Bidholi Road on Sunday and found three men in possession of 2,058 LSD blots and six grammes of heroin. The police seized these hard drugs along with a digital weighing scale and vehicles used in smuggling. The police registered a case against the accused in the Premnagar police station under various sections of the NDPS Act. Singh said that the two accused have been identified as residents of Saharanpur- Rajat Bhatia and Shivam Arora besides the third accused Krish Giroti who lives in Chakrata Road, Dehradun. The SSP said that the accused revealed during interrogation that they all met each other at a party and became good friends. They allegedly came in contact with the Cobra gang through a party and started supplying LSD and heroin. Bhatia used to order these drugs on the dark web from a Bengaluru-based dealer who sent the contraband through couriers. The other two accused had been students of noted colleges in Dehradun and started smuggling these drugs to college students and parties. The accused have given information regarding some big LSD dealers who have been identified and the police are taking advance legal action against them, the SSP said. He also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 to the police team that caught the three gang members.
