Maximum temperature rises 4 degrees above normal in Doon, weather to get hotter today

The maximum temperature rose four degrees above normal to 38.9 degrees Celsius in Dehradun and by a few notches in other parts of the State on Saturday. However, some relief from the heat is expected on Sunday with the State meteorological centre forecasting that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts today. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of surface winds likely to be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts during the day time on Sunday. Apart from this, dry weather will prevail in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 39 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively today in Dehradun.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 38.9 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38.5 degrees Celsius and 19.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 28.9 degrees Celsius and 14.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.8 degrees Celsius and 16.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
