The Dehradun district election officer and district magistrate Sonika interacted with the officials and reviewed arrangements at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Raipur on Monday for the vote counting process for Lok Sabha elections. She reached there in the morning and checked all arrangements till late evening. She first inspected the counting centres set up assembly wise in the shooting hall and multipurpose hall in the college and checked the associated arrangements. She also talked to all the officials deployed there regarding their duties. She also instructed the officials concerned to ensure that the secrecy of the vote counting is maintained in the counting hall. She directed them to strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI). Talking about the preparations regarding the vote counting process, the DM said that the district administration has completed all arrangements in the college. She said that all officials deployed in the centre have done rehearsals of counting of votes for all the assembly constituencies. The administration has also made unique arrangements by ensuring that personnel who will bring electronic voting machines (EVMs) from various strong rooms in various State assemblies to the vote counting centre will wear clothes of different colours to avoid confusion. The administration has set up 14 tables for each assembly constituency in the district. The DM said that over 1,000 personnel are engaged in the arrangements for the vote counting process on Tuesday to ensure all the procedures are done as per the rules. The administration will not tolerate any negligence from any official or personnel, she added.
