Congress opposes MDDA’s demolition drive

Congress leaders joined locals in protesting against the demolition drive of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) in Kathbangla area of Rajpur on Monday. The president of Mahanagar Congress Jaswinder Singh Gogi, state general secretary Godawari Thapli and others held protest against the demolition drive. The Mahanagar president Gogi said that action of administration is unjustified and done in haste. He said that houses of some people who had documents prior to the year 2016 were also demolished. Congress leader Thapli said that the BJP government is harassing people in the name of NGT order. Congress leaders said that NGT has clearly said in its order that no action will be taken against those who had constructed their houses before the cut off date of March 11, 2016 but the order is being flayed.The administration should have made arrangement for shifting the affected the families before demolition drive, they said.
