The Nainital district administration has started the transplantation of trees to be affected by the proposed widening of several intersections in Haldwani. The process of transplanting Pakad trees for the road widening project at the intersection has been commenced near the Roadways bus station in Haldwani, the city magistrate AP Bajpai said. He informed that this project aims to widen the intersection which makes the removal of the trees from the site compulsory. Considering this, the Nainital district magistrate Vandana Singh initiated the transplantation process for trees that have the maximum survival chances. He said that the process started on Friday with the pruning of the trees. Following this, the trees were given antifungal treatment to keep their roots healthy. In the final stage, the soil around the roots was dug out to safely extract the trees. The city magistrate said that these steps were taken as per the advice of experts in environmental conservation in mind. The administration is ensuring that greenery is preserved alongside developmental work across the district, he said. It is pertinent to mention here that about 40 trees will be affected by the proposed widening of 13 intersections in Haldwani. Bajpai said that the whole process will be carried out efficiently for the successful transplantation of the maximum number of trees.
