Taking a sarcastic swipe at a few Congress leaders who slammed him for being present at the mango party hosted by the former chief minister and Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Congress patriarch Harish Rawat said that while he had eaten mangoes others seemed to have vicariously eaten them and then developed oral thrushes. “This is the maya of politics,” he said mockingly.
According to the political watchers, the mango barb was aimed at his bête noir Harak Singh Rawat and his aide-turned-critic Ranjit Rawat.
Making it clear that he has not yet forgiven Harak Singh Rawat for toppling his government in 2016, he said that he had gone to the ex- CM’s mango party in broad daylight unlike some who had stealthily gone into the CM’s residence to protect themselves and their kin. “I started my political career in Congress 57 years ago and I am still in the Congress. I am the last person to learn the art of politics from those who change parties at the drop of their hats,” the veteran politician said.
