The State Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi called on the chief of defence staff (CSD) General Anil Chauhan in New Delhi on Wednesday and requested him to ensure that cardiologists and nephrologists are appointed for the Army Hospital in Dehradun. He is said to have told Chauhan that this initiative on his part would immensely benefit army personnel and ex-servicemen.
Joshi also requested the CDS to take initiative for setting up canteen store departments (CSD) and ex-servicemen contributory health scheme (ECHS) polyclinics across Uttarakhand.
This aside, the minister urged the CDS to initiate construction of hostels for War Widows’ children in Haldwani and construction of an army school somewhere in Garhwal.
Joshi said that the CDS assured that action would be taken on the issues raised in the meeting.
