Lauding the Union Budget tabled by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday as a vision-powered one, the State cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj said that it is expected to prove a significant stepping stone for India becoming a five trillion dollar economy by 2027. “The Rs 48.21 lakh crore budget is focused on accelerating the pace of development, creating new job opportunities for youngsters and addressing the impact of natural disasters in Uttarakhand. In addition to addressing the current challenges, the budget provides a preview of India’s progress over the next five years, encompassing areas such as education, employment, youth skill development, health, urban and rural development, women empowerment, environmental conservation and national security,” the State Tourism minister said.
Maharaj further highlighted that this budget is poised to encourage innovation, research and development in the country. “Additionally, the budget aims to fulfil the aspirations of millions of youngsters by offering internship opportunities. Further, a special relief package has been rolled out to address the aftermath of the disasters that struck Uttarakhand last year with an initial allocation of Rs 86 crore. An additional fund of Rs 2,217 crore is slated to be allocated from the Central Budget. The goal of connecting 475 villages and settlements in the State with roads has been set with special focus on villages with a population exceeding 250,” he said.
“This budget is set to further empower panchayat authorities in the State and enhance the rural road infrastructure,” the State Panchayat and PWD minister further said.
