The State tourism minister Satpal Maharaj proposed a plan to connect the Chaainsheel Valley of Uttarakhand with Himachal Pradesh to boost tourism in the region. He suggested this during a meeting with the PWD minister of Himachal Pradesh Vikramaditya Singh on Wednesday. The discussion during the meeting mainly revolved around road connectivity linking Himachal with the tourism-important Chaainsheel Valley of Uttarakhand and the Paonta National Highway.
Regarding the connectivity, Maharaj emphasised that the Chaainsheel Valley, situated on the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, is currently connected to the border areas of Uttarkashi, Dehradun and Shimla districts.
He further said that despite the location, tourists tend to travel via Himachal instead of Uttarakhand. He underscored the significant potential for tourism development in the Chaainsheel Valley, especially for adventure tourism. This valley boasts beautiful mountains, expansive bugyals, streams and a rich source of rare herbs, he added.
