In a sensational claim made in the Vidhan Sabha, independent MLA from Khanpur, Umesh Kumar said on Thursday that the controversial Gupta brothers are conspiring to dislodge the Uttarakhand government. He claimed that the Gupta brothers are ready to spend a sum of Rs 500 crore in this endeavour. He said that the State government remained benevolent to the Gupta brothers between 2016 and 2020 and Y and Z category security was given to them. Kumar said that corruption started paralysing Uttarakhand ever since it was created. He said that the nexus between mafia, politicians and bureaucrats has plagued the State. He also claimed that real estate businessmen Satyendra Sahani committed suicide due to the threats from the Gupta brothers. The MLA said that the subsidiary companies of Sara Computers Limited (a black listed company of Gupta brothers) , Heritage Aviation and Doon Lodge and Hospitality Limited were given major contracts in Uttarakhand. He demanded that a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation should be ordered into the criminal activities of Gupta brothers and their association with politicians.
