KU’s Women’s Studies Centre hosts homemade products’ exhibition

Several prominent schools from Nainital participated

An exhibition of handmade products based on the theme of skill leading to self-reliance was organised by the Women’s Studies Centre of Kumaun University. Stalls were set up by the university as well as many schools and women’s organisations based in Nainital. The schools which set up stalls included Mohan Lal Sah Bal Vidya Mandir, Rashtriya Shaheed Sainik Smarak Vidhyapeeth, Nainital and Saraswati Vidya Mandir. The MLA Nainital Sarita Arya inaugurated and visited the exhibition. She stressed on girls/women acquiring distinctive skills to power their way to economic self- reliance.

Addressing the inaugural programme, the head of the centre and director of DSB campus, Prof Neeta Bora Sharma said that a self-financed course is being run at the Women’s Studies Centre. “Soon, this will be made a regular course,” she added. A team of prominent people inspected the stalls, evaluated and then announced prizes. The vice- chancellor of Kumaun University Prof Diwan Singh Rawat handed the prizes to the winners.
