The governor Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh attended the 5th conference of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the work of oral and maxillofacial surgeons is not limited to medical treatment only but they bring a positive change in the society. “ All of you are not only improving the smile on people’s faces, but are also motivating patients and their families towards living a better life,’’ he said.
The governor said that the doctors should ensure that the treatment and implants are within the reach of the common man while using the latest technology. He also emphasised on the importance of spreading awareness in the society about oral health and suggested that medical camps in rural areas should be organised for the purpose. “We need to encourage people to visit dentists from time to time to maintain proper oral hygiene and ensure a healthy society,’’ he said.
The national President of AOMSI, Dr Manikandan gave information about the importance of dental implants and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
The president of Uttarakhand chapter of AOMSI Dr Sumit Chopra, office bearers of the association and dentists and oral surgeons from across the country attended the conference.
