With Deepawali and the weekend coinciding, a large number of tourists thronged Nainital on the weekend. A substantial number of tourists from Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and other parts of the nation arrived here on Saturday. Most of the hotels and lodges in this hill station were fully booked due to the arrival of tourists. In addition to this, the main parking was also fully occupied. This also resulted in considerable traffic congestion in the city. In order to manage the situation, the police and administration halted tourist vehicles outside the city at the Rusi bypass. The tourist vehicles were parked near the bypass and from there the visitors were sent to their hotel in the city by shuttle service.
Those involved in tourism and various related activities here were enthused with the large number of tourists arriving in the hill station. Crowds of visitors could be seen throughout the day at Kilbury, Cave Garden, Himalayan Botanical Garden, Nainital Zoo, Hanumangarhi and other popular tourist destinations on Saturday. The tourists also enjoyed boating on the Naini lake. However, the large number of tourists also caused considerable inconvenience with areas including the Mall Road suffering from traffic congestion throughout most of the day.
