Marchula accident exposes poor response time in the accident cases ?

The Marchula bus accident which has claimed 36 lives has exposed the poor response time of the authorities for the accidents and natural calamities.

 The bus accident occurred at around 7.45 am and the first ambulance of the 108 emergency service reached the site at 8.59 am. This ambulance of 108 service was sent from Gaulikhal which is about 20 km from the accident site.

The State head of 108 emergency ambulance service, Anil Sharma told The Pioneer that the service received the first call about the Marchula accident at 8.25 am following which ambulances from multiple sites were rushed to the accident site. He informed that the ambulance sent from Salt reached the accident site at 9.05 am, from Bhaunkhal at 9.10 am, from Shankarpur at 9.20 am and from Dhumakot at 9.40 am.

Sharma further informed that 14 ambulances were pressed by the 108 service to transport the injured from the accident site to hospitals and to the referral centres. He claimed that the ambulance service immediately responded to the emergency in the bus accident case.
