The Kumaun Garhwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) hailed the initiative of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to install Smart (prepaid) meter at the industrial units with three megawatt load, saying it would benefit both the UPCL and consumers in industries. Speaking on the matter, the KGCCI president Ashok Bansal said on Saturday that it would not just prevent nonessential electricity consumption and ensure timely payment but also help the company save its time and resources. Further, he urged the UPCL to expand this facility’s ambit from the present three MWs to more so that the industrial units requiring more electricity for their operation can avail it.
