The Dehradun Citizens Forum (DCF) organised a public awareness meet on safe driving on Saturday to address pressing issues and promote a collective sense of responsibility among citizens. The event took place near a mall on Rajpur Road and brought together concerned citizens, social activists and community leaders to discuss the urgent need for safer driving.
During the meet, participants shared personal stories that highlighted the tragic impact of road accidents on families and communities. The central theme of the event was the idea that road safety is not only an individual duty but an obligation shared among society members. The discussions during the meet focused on the importance of adhering to traffic rules, avoiding reckless driving and the consequences of drunk driving.
Additionally, those attending the event emphasised the need for the community, especially the youth, to take ownership in spreading awareness about safe driving practices. Several speakers urged the younger generation to take the lead in promoting responsible behaviour on the roads, pointing out that they play a crucial role in shaping the future of road safety in Dehradun and beyond.
The event also included the distribution of posters and stickers encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly and to incorporate safe driving into their daily routines. These posters will be displayed at prominent locations across the city, with the hope that they will spark a wider conversation about road safety. Further, the forum encouraged the public to spread the message among their families, friends and social networks, making sure that the call for safer streets reaches every area of the city.
