Temperature continues to fluctuate, nights in plains colder than in mountains

After a few days of the minimum temperatures in Dehradun, Pantnagar and other places in the plains being lower that some mountainous regions in the State, the temperatures in the plains rose by a few notches on Tuesday. However, the temperature is forecast to drop again on Wednesday.

The State Meteorological Centre has forecast that the State will witness dry weather on Wednesday. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with mist likely to occur during the morning hours.  The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 25 degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 24.8 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 26 degrees Celsius and 5.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26 degrees Celsius and 6.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 17.4 degrees Celsius and 6.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.

The maximum temperature was three degrees Celsius above normal in Dehradun while the maximum was four degrees above normal and the minimum was a degree below normal in Pantnagar. The minimum temperature in Pantnagar was lower than in Mukteshwar where the maximum was three degrees above normal and the minimum was two degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was two degrees above normal in New Tehri.
