Namami Bansal takes charge as Dehradun municipal commissioner

IAS officer Namami Bansal officially assumed charge as the Dehradun municipal commissioner on Thursday. She said that addressing critical urban challenges like sanitation, waste management and street lighting will be primary focus areas as the municipal commissioner.
Speaking to the media on her first day in office, she emphasised the importance of enhancing the city’s sanitation infrastructure. She said that she will pay special attention to ensuring 100 percent door-to-door garbage collection and its proper disposal at waste management plants. She stated that she aims to streamline garbage collection operations, making them more efficient and accessible to all residents.
She acknowledged the persistent challenges with street lighting across the city and assured that significant improvements will be made to ensure better illumination and safety in public spaces. On her first day in office, she inspected various sections of the corporation and held a review meeting with officials. She sought detailed updates on ongoing and proposed projects under the municipal corporation.
