Interacting with the media persons in New Delhi on Tuesday, Dhami said the Congress has always insulted Ambedkar. He said that Ambedkar’s life was dedicated to equality and nation building. The CM said that the Congress party is now engaging in fake sympathy towards Ambedkar but it has always insulted him. He said that the Congress should apologise for Jawaharlal Nehru and other Congress leaders insulting Ambedkar.

Dhami said that after his resignation from the Nehru cabinet, Ambedkar was not allowed to speak in parliament. He said that in his resignation letter, Ambedkar had said the SC and ST were ignored and the only concern of the government was for the Muslims. The CM said that the Congress party ensured the defeat of Ambedkar in the Lok Sabha elections in 1952 and 1954.
