Cold wave condition likely at isolated places today
Snowfall in various mountainous regions in the recent past has upped the cold across the State. According to the state meteorological centre, through dry weather is likely to prevail in the state, cold wave conditions are likely to occur at isolated places in the state on Wednesday. Further, moderate to dense fog is also likely to occur in some parts of the plains especially in Haridwar and Uddham Singh Nagar districts. In addition to this, ground frost is also likely to occur at isolated places in the state.
According to the meteorological centre, though temperatures in the districts may remain moderate, chilly winds may aggravate cold at times. Further, the cold may be tolerable but poses mild health concerns for vulnerable people including infants, pregnant women, the elderly and people with chronic diseases. There is also a likelihood of frost causing damage to crops and the roads being slippery in some places due to ice deposition. For Dehradun, the meteorological centre has forecast mainly clearly sky on Wednesday with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 20 degrees Celsius and four degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places of the state on Tuesday were 21.5 degrees Celsius and 5.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 20.2 degrees Celsius and 3.1 degree Celsius in Pantnagar, 10.5 degrees Celsius and 0.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 12.2 degrees Celsius and 2.8 degree Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
