Plans afoot to promote Badri Cow’s ghee in other states
The Dehradun district dairy department has commenced the production of dairy products in the second Dairy Growth Centre of the district in Atal village of Tiuni after the first successful Dairy Growth Centre in Lakhamandal. The construction work of the centre was recently concluded and currently, the installation work of various machinery is still under process. Moreover, the department is also working on the plans of branding and marketing of the Ghee prepared from the milk of Badri Cows to sell the products on other parts of the country.
This was informed by the Assistant director of the Dairy development department, Anurag Mishra. He said that many farmers received loans under the government schemes to buy Badri cows while many are still awaiting for their loans to be sanctioned soon. “At present, we are only making churpi cheese in the Atal Dairy Growth Centre. When all the equipment will be installed in the centre and all the remaining farmers will get Badri cows through their pending loans, we will start the full production of dairy products here like the Lakhamandal Growth Centre” said Mishra.
He further informed that considering the high demand of the Ghee of Badri Cows due to their specific taste and medicinal value in various States, the district administration is also currently working on its marketing and branding so that a proper platform can be provided to the local dairy products of Dehradun district. Moreover, he added that the administration will soon start another Dairy Growth Centre in Sahiya village of Kalsi which will promote the dairy products of Badri Cows while providing more employment opportunities to the local farmers.
